Bobi Wine and Chamileon

By Kevin Patrice

Kampala Lord Mayor Aspirant Joseph Mayanja aka Chameleon has revealed his anger at how he was duped by the Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to leave his Democratic party and join National Unity Platform only to be discarded like a sack of rotten trash.

The visibly irritated music icon narated how Bobi Wine called and convinced him to join the new party which he grudgingly did after receiving an assurance that they would stick to the same values that their parent umbrella – the People Power has stood for.

” He called me and told me that ,my brother I have formed my party and I think it would be good if you come and we work together. When I raised by concern that I was a DP member, he assured me the values we had fought for under people power would not change and then I willingly joined,” he said during a TV interview with Steven Dunstan Busuulwa at BBS TV on Thursday.

Eventhough Mr Mayanja says he has since moved on and his major focus now is the battle to better service delivery in Kampala,he still feels pain over the reason that was given for his rejection by the Kyagulanyi Electoral Commission officials.

” One thing that pains me a lot up to now is that those people at Kamwokya had used my Catholic religion against me. It true because they released a document to the effect that I was rejected because I am not a Moslem like my brother Latif Ssebagala. I was so devastated and I don’t think I can forgive anyone behind it, ‘ he noted.

He insisted further that had it been the people to decide who was the right person for the party flag, he was confident they would have outrightly voted for him a head of Ssebagala.

Chameleon has since the day he was nominated, publicly declared his support for Kyagulanyi’s presidential bid while still assuring NUP that he is still a faithful party member.
