After nearly three weeks of anxiety surrounding the results for the recently held NRM primaries for the Jinja City Woman Member of Parliament, the party Electoral Commission has finally announced Annet Musika the winner of the sept 4 contested polls.

Musika emerged winner in the race after overcoming five others in the contravasial elections whose results have had to wait for nearly three weeks to be announced after a contestation among the candidates that participated in the contest.

While speaking to the media shortly after the announcement, Musika thanked God and her supporters who voted her to represent them in the 2021 elections and called for unity.

“I thank God and my supporters who voted me and I call upon my fellow contestants that let us work together,” she said.

She further cited divisions as the leading cause of Jinja’s underdevelopment and also bemoaned the district’s poor state of health services, adding that this would be a priority during his first tenure as the inaugural City Woman MP.

However Namuyomba Mary, one of the losers in the hotly contested election which attracted six contestants was not happy with the verdict , arguing that although they had sought justice from the party EC,the announcement had to them of the same.

“We petitioned the party Electoral Commission because of election malpractices but were shocked by the returning officer’s announcement,” she said.

Milika Sonya Irene another contestant said she’ll consult with her supporters on way forward, which suggests that she could be headed for the final polls on an independent ticket.
