NRM’s Jinja LC V card winner Moses Batwala all smiles following the Electoral Commission declaring him unopposed for the district chairmanship after no one else turned up for nominations by the close of the exercise on Monday 5th.

Batwala won the NRM primaries which were conducted on 11th last month after beating incumbent Titus Kisambira in the hotly competitive race.

Speaking shortly after the announcement by the Jinja Electoral Commission, Batwala thanked all stakeholders for trusting him and letting him through unopposed, pledging that he will serve them wholeheartedly while prioritizing development and efficient service delivery.

“I am really grateful to the people of Jinja for the confidence they have shown me and I promise not to disappoint them. I will serve you wholeheartedly with specific emphasis on development and efficient service delivery,” he promised.

Mr. Kisambira – the incumbent who lost the party flag to Batwala explained why they have opted to let him go unopposed, arguing that Jinja – a new administrative unity after curving the city off would have many challenges which made it necessary that the incoming Chairperson is not disturbed through the rigorous Electoral contest.

He promised to work hand in hand with him in order to foster development and ensure continuity.

Kisambira will hold the office until some time in May next year when his mandate will expire and give way to Mr. Batwala.
